wt CAG Meeting Notes: April 15, 2009
The second meeting of the entire group, still a lot of questions and uncertainity as to how we should proceed. Made some good progress on breaking into smaller teams to handle each pillar of the MSP.
Coordinator Update
- Highlights from provincial coordinator meeting in Red Deer and a preview of the upcoming Pathways 2 Sustainability conference in Cochrane
- Website (www.wetaskiwintomorrow.ca) is now online and constantly being updated and revised
- Still have room for one more CAG member if necessary
Team Assignments
- Developed teams to lead each sustainability ‘pillar’ — environmental (Ashley, Nolana, Lucas), economic (Gail, Mark S.) cultural (Justin C., Therese, Helen), social (Bill, Dana, Dorothy) and governance (Mark M. Justin L., Bert H).
ACTION: Next Meeting will break into groups and mapped out some specific activities and ways to determine goals.
Brainstorming ‘Engagment’
- Broke into groups and look at community groups to look at the best way to connect with them
- Decided that more presentations to smaller groups are more effective then fewer, larger events
ACTION: Create an online document to share with CAG members so that ideas and suggestions can be added at anytime.
Potential Events
- Ideas included: designing T-shirts, promotions on the city water bill, presentation to the chamber of commerce, get the teachers involved, getting the school principals on side, presentation by the mayor
ACTION: Develop a logo contest
ACTION: Develop a photo contest
ACTION: Develop a draft community survey
- CAG members to supply/suggest questions
- Not too many questions, or too complicated
ACTION: Find an appropriate date for presentations from a) Olds and b) Taber
Other Items
- Discussion on community culture vs. group culture. What are we trying to do? We need to focus on the community as a whole and not cater specifically to individual groups.
ACTION: Develop a standard PowerPoint presentation about wt to be used in a general scenario
ACTION: Engage the community media
