What is my favourite part of Wetaskiwin?

1 word. History! It is undeniable that this City is strong in the historical aspect. Look around you. History surrounds you everyday. Should you take the time to pull away from your Ipod or cell phone (and enjoy it) is up to you. There is alot about Wetaskiwin that people do not know. #1 – Wetaskiwin was used as the base for a Christmas Movie known as “Santas Slay” starring forrmer WCW/WWF Wrestler Bill Goldberg. The historic downtown was used as the platform in most of the film. Also, The New City Hall (Old Couthouse) was used as Hell’s Township Police Station in the movie. The beginnig of the film features a gorgeous view of a wintery Wetaskiwin from above downtown. Type in Santas Slay on Google and be enlightened. Did you know that?

There used to be a popular TV show in Canada known as the Beachcombers starring Wetaskiwin’s Own Jackson Davies who has made other appearances all over Hollywood including a spot on the TV show The X Files. Jackson went to school at Queen Elizabeth Jr. High School. In Fact, if you go to the front entrance of Q.E there is a framed headshot of Jackson Davies above the trophy case.
