In February 2009, the City of Wetaskiwin began its sustainability plan, Wetaskiwin Tomorrow. Over the next two years, Wetaskiwin experienced the largest consultation in the City’s history. Now its up to all of us. Wetaskiwin is an amazing place, with even better potential. To reach that potential involves knowing where we want to go and then working towards that vision together. This website is our attempt at such a vision.

I was just coming on here to request an off-leash dog park! It would be so nice to be able to go somewhere to socialize with other dog owners while the dogs get some exercise. It would be especially beneficial in the winter time when it gets to cold and windy to walk on trail by the highway. Even a small fenced in area like what Beaumont has would be great and it would be a real attraction for people considering moving to Wetaskiwin.

I find it interesting that dog litter bags are provided in Wetaskiwin but no trash bins in which to dispose of it! Why would I want to walk around with dog crap in my pocket?

I think an off leash recreation area would be great. My family (dog included) like to do things together when we are off work/school. We think Wetaskiwin is really beautiful. We have struggled with keeping our dog socialazed since we moved here and have had to commute to Edmonton off leash areas or pay (Doggy Daycare) for our animal to spend time with other animals. There is a great deal of potential in Wetaskiwin. I would be thrilled if there could be an off leash recreation area (and many more garbage cans).

Peace Hills Park serves as an Off Leash Park, and has for some time! There are alway groups of people down there in larger groups socializing their dogs.

There is an off leash park (a big one at that) in Leduc. It will do if you don't want to go right into the city.
It is behind the Leduc rec centre with parking spaces provided.
Also I notice a fair amount of unused green space like the back part of by the lake park(I'm not sure how far back it actually goes)
I would like to see a view point on top of the big hill(above the road) in peace hills park, I go there a lot, you can see the whole town from up there. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25972391@N05/3290757…
