“Wetaskiwn needs to get some momentum…positive momentum….”City in Motion” has lost its relativity. Better planning and more productive business recruitment and retention are needed.
And like any municipality, better maintenance of infrastructure…especially roads. Sometimes I just have to shake my head at the decisions that are made. Really? Is that the best council and administration can do?
Wetaskiwin needs to find a niche…become “known” for being family-friendly, a bedroom community to Edmonton, a nice place for seniors or the like…something more sustainable than “cars cost less.” It’s catchy, but do you really want the city identified by car dealerships?
I think Wetaskiwin needs to do a better job of working with its neighbors..and not just JEDI. That includes the First Nations. Engage your citizens for the long term, not just when it comes to a new plan. Plans are only useful if they are used, measured for success and then readjusted. Citizen, if you can find a way to get their buy-in, are the best placed to do just that.”

"City in Motion" :-( OK, we do have cars, trucks, trains, and the Reynolds-Alberta Museum, but we ignore our cultural diversity, our pioneering heritage and our neighbours to the south. Wetaskiwin means "Hills where peace was made" in referance to peace between First Nations. I think our moto has narrow vision and we are ignoring who we are. We are missing out on many opportunities that could benefit us all. n

The change has to begin with each one of us! Be positive! Love yourselves! Be responsible for yourself! Know what's yours! It's amazing its like a domino effect and contagious! Nothing like being with positive people that love themselves and others!

i brought my wife and family here to start a fresh life with our infant child .. this city is the worst run place i have ever seen. the people are great, people are always great no matter where they are.. been here seven years… started a business, have lots of clients, have a few beers with them and have fun… the upcoming election in oct 2010 will make an big impact on this city oonce we, the great people of wetaskiwin get rid of this current city council because with it we can call this city in SLOW motion… it hasn’t gone far in a long time camrose was smaller than wetaskiwin at one time, look at it now and look at this town…

Check your facts. Camrose has always been bigger than Wetaskiwin. Ever since at least 1930.
It has riden about 30% higher in population in every census since that time. Still is…

If you are so unhappy here why don't you move somewhere else? We need positive people here not people that only contribute complaints. If you can run this City better put your money where your mouth is and run for council. I for one am sick and tired of people with nothing better to do than complain about everything.
