We need better sidewalks and crosswalks throughout all the town making it easier on strollers that typically AREN'T all wheel drive and we need people friendly places to go and have a hot dog cookout. We need a big splash park, towns smaller than Wetaskiwin such as Barrhead, AB have their own splash parks so why can't Wetaskiwin? We need nicer playgrounds, we only have the nice big one by the high school and the one at By-the-Lake park. .

The People of Wetaskiwin Want all these things but are not willing to step up and pay for them! The reason Other towns have these things is not only because the government pays for them but because the people raise money, the people get funding through donations and contrabutions. That is not the case in Wetaskiwin. People want, want, want and the town needs, needs needs, But the rate payer is NOT willing to do anything to get, Get ,Get! It has been made very clear at the last open meetings for Mainstreet, and the rec centre!

Alicia, I had a hard time finding Peace Hills Park too. This large park is a short drive from town, only a couple of kilometers west of the hospital.

From Highway 2A, turn west onto Township Road 464 (location of Montgomery Glen Golf Club), then north on Range Road 243. Strangely enough, there is no sign at that corner; there is however, a sign pointing south to By-the-Lake Park! Anyway, turn RIGHT, and shortly thereafter, you'll see the parking lot, also to the right. It IS a beautiful park - well worth many visits. There is also another small unmarked parking area on the east side of the park just off the Peace Hills Crescent loop.

Theatre!!! The Wetaskiwin Theatre Society is always looking for new members. AND you don't have to be an actor. Many of our members use a variety of other talents to contribute to our organization.
BTW, anyone ever consider re-establishing the arts council? It would be great to have a collaborative body to network and cross-promote events. (Yes, I am aware of the City's committee, but I am thinking of something that is exclusively arts focused).
