Evening shift trial period could lead to permanent changes

The night just got a little bit safer.

In line with the Wetaskiwin Tomorrow Community Vision and Wetaskiwin’s commitment to increased safety and enhancing our community image, the City has added a temporary evening shift for its bylaw officers.

The new shift (11:30 AM — 8:00 PM), will start immediately for two to three days a week and run until September 30.

“This trial will be a good indicator of the community’s need for an evening patrol,” said Bill Elliot, Mayor of the City of Wetaskiwin. “Safety and cleanliness are two of our most important goals. If this evening shift helps make Wetaskiwin safer and cleaner, then we will look at making it permanent.”

The results of the trial period will be documented and presented to Wetaskiwin City Council in October 2011.
