The Wetaskiwin & County Sports Hall of Fame committee is now accepting
applications for induction into the hall in 2012. Individuals, teams, builders and those who fall into the special
category can now be nominated based on their accomplishments. The Hall of Fame committee will review each submission based on merit
and criteria. The selection criteria also takes into consideration the
nominee’s overall contribution in the development of sport and
recreation, how the person’s efforts impacted the organization and/or
community, and how the sport benefitted from his or her involvement. The Wetaskiwin & County Sports Hall of Fame will recognize for awards
all sports currently recognized by the Alberta Sport Council. The Hall of Fame will recognize the following people: athletes who
have distinguished themselves in competition in Wetaskiwin and County,
or elsewhere, and who have rendered prolonged and meritorious service
to sport; builders for their initiative, leadership and dedication to
those individuals who participate in the development of sport; teams
that have been finalists at provincial, national, international or
world championships; and a special award for individuals,
organizations, athletes and builders who have made an outstanding
contribution to sports in Wetaskiwin and County. Nominations may originate with an individual, club or association and
must be signed by the nominator. The 2012 Induction Application form is now available. It can be
