At the yearly organizational meeting on October 24, 2011, City of Wetaskiwin Mayor Bill Elliot thanked Council, staff and citizens. The meeting marked the one year anniversary of the current council.

From Mayor Elliot's speech:

"As we complete our first year together, I would like to thank Council, the staff, and the citizens for an interesting and productive year.

There have been a lot of innovations, changes, and new ideas and I thank all of you for your time and commitment to making the City of Wetaskiwin a great place to live, work, play, and learn.

My wish, over the next two years, is that we can work together, more closely, and be able to speak as one voice, once decisions are made.

Regardless of your political aspirations two years from now, we have to do what's best for the City and do it in a unified manner, not as individuals with personal agendas.

If we can do that, great things will happen."
