In February 2009, the City of Wetaskiwin began its sustainability plan, Wetaskiwin Tomorrow. Over the next two years, Wetaskiwin experienced the largest consultation in the City’s history. Now its up to all of us. Wetaskiwin is an amazing place, with even better potential. To reach that potential involves knowing where we want to go and then working towards that vision together. This website is our attempt at such a vision.

More public art

Public art is often a controversial subject -- tastes, of course, vary and there is a valid debate on the use of public money. Yet, some will say that public art gives your community a sense of culture and personality. What do you think: is public art worth the cost? What would you like to...

To establish a civic fund-raising office

"Wetaskiwin has stayed a blue collar town. It does not look like that has been a winning strategy. It badly...

Twin City: Ashoro, Japan

"What is good about Wetaskiwin is it being twinned with Ashoro city in Japan. This association led to the creation of Ashoro Friendship Park as well as student exchange programs. When bored/drunk/whatever people destroy and vandalize this park all it really shows is that we as a community do not have enough maturity or caring to...

The silence …

"My favourite part of Wetaskiwin is the silence in some parts of the community. I am fortunate as the area of Wetaskiwin that I live in has no noise other than the occasional sound of kids playing or a dog barking. I have lived in Edmonton and heard sirens, car doors slamming, air traffic and...

My Wetaskiwin = Rec Facilities

Support the development of neighbourhood associations

"A neighborhood association (NA) is a group of residents or property owners who advocate for or organize activities within a neighborhood. An association may have elected leaders and voluntary dues." -- Wikipedia

Support the development of and participate in more community events and city-wide festivals

"I like the idea of having more Community events as well actually. I think more community involvement might really get the spirits of this town up again and really make things move! We would all like to see the city jump into action at the blink of an eye but that isn't the case. I...

More of a night life

I believe that Wetaskiwin Alberta needs to have more of night life.
