Let get some incentives for businesses to be here! Try free or reduced taxes for the first year. Or start up loans to small businesses trying Wetaskiwin out as a market. The cost of these things are prohibitive for small businesses and being a small town, we should be promoting them.

We have to ask ourselves “Should we be growing?” — how many people can Wetaskiwin support? What is our current water supply? Maybe we need to focus more on making existing things work better and less on (un)sustainable growth.

There is a big difference between retail & economy

There is a big difference between retail & economy. In the past 10 years efforts have been made to try & get more jobs in this town we have failed on each attempt. A packing plant, warehousing & even trying something as absurd as lengthening the runway at the airport to try & become a bedroom community for Fort McMurray.

There is nothing unfriendly about City Hall

First off – there is nothing “un”friendly or “un”welcoming about city hall. Whenever I need some direction I simply ask.
There is one thing that could be a little more obvious: who should I ask first? There doesn’t seem to be a main receptionist. It really doesn’t make much difference to me but it may be helpful for those who don’t enjoy public spaces.
It has always been a friendly atmosphere for me.
